Spanish Class/ Making Play-dough/ Flubber/ Literacy

Yesterday, Alicia brought out a parachute during Spanish class.  The Cardinals cheered with joy as Alicia explained what we were doing with the parachute. Friends each found a handle and as Alicia called a color in English on the parachute, friends named the color in Spanish. Soon after friends counted up to five in Spanish, they let go of the parachute and went under it while the teachers held it up. Alicia then counted up to five in Spanish and the Cardinals came out and held onto the handles again.

We also made new batches of playdough and flubber. The Cardinals voted on the colors purple and orange to decide on which color to make the playdough and flubber. We now have orange flubber and purple playdough.

Today after our morning meeting, to transition to snack friends chose to complete a rhyme or solve a mathematics problem. A teacher would call a word, and a friend would think of a word that rhymes with it and then said it. If a friend chose math, an equation was given. A few older friends asked for addition and subtraction equations. The Cardinals each did a journal entry titled, What did you do over Winter Break?

We had library class with Michelle, in which each Cardinal returned a book from our classroom. After listening to a story read aloud by Michelle, friends each chose a book, checked it out and brought it back to our classroom. We also brought back books on different kinds of animals for our exploration.

Ask you Cardinal which book they borrowed from the Library?
