Literacy-Journal work/ Birthday Celebration

Today after meeting for worship in the meeting house, we returned to our classroom and had a snack of sliced oranges, goldfish, and pretzels. The Cardinals then had morning meeting, followed by working on a journal entry titled, What is your favorite fruit? Why? The Cardinals worked in small groups of four or two. Friends each drew wonderful details, gave dictation about their drawing or did kid-writing with a teacher's help to stretch out words they wanted to write. 

Soon after large motor fun outside, it was time for Alycia's birthday celebration to begin. We began by sitting at our decorated tables and eating yummy warm pizza. Then, Minnie Mouse came to visit and the Cardinals cheered with joy! Friends had a dance party with  Minnie Mouse on the front rug, followed by pinata fun and delicious cupcakes! Minnie Mouse then hugged or high-fived each Cardinal before leaving!

Thanks to Alycia's family for a yummy lunch and fun time. And thanks to Alycia for sharing her birthday and her family with us.
