This morning the Cardinals split into two groups. One group went to Senior Spanish and the other group stayed in the classroom to do a small group activity. In Spanish, Alicia and friends played number bingo. The group that stayed in the classroom played bingo as well, but letter bingo!
Following the small group time, the Cardinals came together as a whole and went to music with Keisha.
Our music time began with our weekly routine of instrumental exploration and then gathering together in a large circle to sing Jambo.
Keisha shared we were going to sing another hello song, but before that, she introduced the steady beat. Keisha said, "The beat is like the heart of the music." Friends put their hands over their hearts and quietly felt their heartbeat. Keisha shared that our heartbeats keep us going, and the beat in music keeps the music going. Friends found their steady beats on their laps and sang Hello, How are You? Friends practiced this a few times, keeping the steady beat on the floor, their heads, and bellies. Next, it got a little tricky! The Cardinals and Keisha put their steady beat in two places, their laps and heads!
In music, friends also sang Cows, and then got up to move with scarves for It's Snowing and Popcorn.
After music, we returned to the classroom for morning meeting, snack, and choice time.
Ask your Cardinal how to keep the beat?
