When we entered the art room this morning, friends gathered around the big table. Once seated and settled, Amanda asked the Cardinals where they thought she may have collected the items on the tray that was in front of her. Friends excitedly shared, "Outside!" The Cardinals identified the different items, such as leaves, sticks, and acorns. Amanda explained how you can decorate your paper with the different nature items you see on the tray. In order to stick our things onto the tray, we needed to use glue. Before glue though, Amanda told us to pick where you want things to go first. Amanda showed friends how to dip their glue brush in the cup and then wipe it on the edge so it doesn't drip and get all over the paper. The next step was to paint the glue on to the paper and gently press and count to three so the glue holds that piece.
After the demo, the Cardinals went to take their seats at the smaller tables. You could see and hear friends planning and attending to detail, and counting "1, 2, 3" to get their items from nature to stick to the paper.
Yesterday, Thea turned 5! So, today we celebrated her birthday here at school with all of the Cardinal friends! Thea's parents, Erin and Brian brought in cupcakes for the celebration.
Happy 5th Birthday, Thea!
Ask your Cardinal what nature items they put on their paper in art.
Bonus question: Ask your Cardinal what ingredients were used to make the cupcakes.
