Literacy / The Cardinals Family Style Snack

Yesterday the Cardinals worked on a journal entry titled, "What are you thankful for?" It was wonderful to hear what each Cardinal wrote or dictated about their thankfulness!

Today, the Cardinals had a family-style snack in celebration of Thanksgiving day tomorrow. We turned the tables so we could all sit facing each other and shared a snack of shaved turkey slices, Hawaiian rolls, veggies sticks, kidzels (pretzels), blueberries red and grapes!

Enjoy your time with family and friends!

                      Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

On Friday, the Cardinals worked with their second-grade partners to create their own "Identity Persona". Alicia and Amanda collaborated to do this activity with their younger and older students. The Cardinals chose how they wanted to dress their dolls by picking the fabrics and materials. Our partners helped support us by helping with the cutting and gluing.

Today in art class with Amanda, we experiment with clay. Amanda told the Cardinals that we will be making a cup or small bowl and that each Cardinal can choose which one they wanted to create. Amanda continued by telling us that each friend will get two balls of clay, one to make the bottom of the bowl and the other ball to make the body. She instructed us to make a fist and pat the clay flat. With the second piece of clay, Amanda showed us how to pinch a small piece of clay and then put it between our palms and move our hands back and forth to create a long piece of clay to start creating the body of our bowl or cup. The Cardinals will be adding more details over the next couple of weeks and then our creations will be put in the kiln. Stay tuned for the next steps!

Ask your Cardinal what they created in art class today.

This past weekend, Joseph and his family visited the Woodmere Art Museum, where the Cardinals have artwork on display.  Go take a visit if you get the chance. Thank you, Joseph, for sharing with us!

We also want to let you all know that the Cardinals will now attend Meeting for Worship every Wednesday in the Meeting House with all the lower school classes. The Cardinals will be leaving the classroom by 8:45 am to walk over. If you happen to be running late, please meet us at the Meeting House or we will be back in the classroom by 9:45 am.
                           Have a wonderful evening!
