Monday News/Art class/Library class

              Thanksgiving Weekend News

Joseph - I put up the Christmas tree. It's a big tree and I have a little tree. The big tree is in the foyer. The little tree is in the dining room. They're the same colors and we were doing the Christmas countdown.

Almy - I went to Spain and Geneva. I went to Thanksgiving with my grandma and grandpa. I went to North Carolina and then I saw Ellis. I just went to my old school.

Reyn - I played with daddy. I had chicken at pop-pop's house. I had a Mickey mouse cake and icing. Mommy and pop-pop and Gigi eat cake.

Amelia - I had duck. We had Thanksgiving at my house. There was me and mommy and grandma. We had marshmallows mixed with sweet potatoes. We had cornbread and pasta. Mommy cooked the food. Sometimes when the food drops on the floor Golden eats it. Actually, every time food drops on the floor she tries to eat it.

Thea - Grano and Pop pop Pete came over at my house, and Steven and Katie, and Aunt Penny. We were playing with magnatiles, with red magnatiles, orange magnatiles and blue magnatiles and green magnatiles, and purple magnatiles. We also had magnatiles with windows in them. We build stuff with them and they had directions to build with them. There was numbers how many we needed, how many squares, triangles, pentagons, and hexagons and that's it.

Cameron - Cole met me at my house. Cole is one of my cousin's and has a baby named Jack and I love the baby. So I played with Cole and then we played Pokemon GO. We made a pie for Thanksgiving.

Asa - I saw some cousins and I went to a chickens barn. I go with Harriet, Madeline and Samuel. They are my cousins.

Jamesy - I got a haircut. Granny and grandfather come to my house. They play with me.

Vivian - On the first day, I woke up and went to Fran and Steve's house and it was a long drive. We drove the whole time and watched a video and finally we got there. When we got there, Fran gave us some presents, which were a blanket and a bug that you could turn a switch on and could walk around the floor. Some of daddy's cousins friends came over. Then we had Thanksgiving dinner and went on a walk and then we went to bed. The next day, I woke up and me and mommy and Matilda ate breakfast. I got to run a fake restaurant. Then, we went to a playground to just get some fresh air and get energy out. Then, Fran and Steve, and Liz and Liz's friend thought that sounds fun so they went for a walk to get some fresh air too. Then me and my family came home and had some lunch. Then everyone came back and we had some dinner and then I went to bed.

April - I had a sleepover at grandma's house for Thanksgiving. My whole family slept over. I had turkey.

James - I had turkey at my house and at Hall's house two in a row. I play with toys and build magnatiles. I hug mommy! One more thing I play with Harry.

Alycia - There turkey was yucky 'cause I don't like it. DJ was at the house. She not feeling well.

After the long Thanksgiving weekend, friends came back to school ready to be together again! We overheard many conversations as to whose house they went to, who drove in a car or rode in a plane and who came to their houses.

When we entered the art room this morning, friends noticed that Amanda had a bunch of different shapes spread out on a tray. Amanda held up a shape and asked friends to identify the shape she was holding. Some of the shapes included diamonds, hexagons, and triangles. Amanda explained that we were each going to get a small square piece of wood to put our shapes onto. Using their imaginations and creative art brains, the Cardinals used the shapes to make a design of their choice on the wood.

After the demonstration, the Cardinals took their seats at the other tables and got started. At each table there was a piece of wood for each friend, along with shapes and glue. As friends worked, the room was quiet as the Cardinals were so focused. The Cardinals took their time and were intentional about their work.

Today, we celebrated Reyn's 3rd birthday! Reyn's family brought in cupcakes to share with us. Reyn, we wish you a very happy birthday!

Thanks, Reyn, for sharing your birthday with us!

The Cardinals also worked on their December self-portraits.
                                 Great work friends!!

In library class, we returned our books and sat down to listen to a couple of books read aloud. First, Michelle read The Princess and the Pea by Rachel Isadora. The second book was Tuesday by ..., which was a book with no words, and therefore the Cardinals had to help Michelle come up with the words to the story using the illustrations on each page.

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
