Today, Vivian's mom, Joanna and grandma, Vickie came for family holiday sharing. Joanna shared that in their family around Christmas time they like to make crafts. One of the crafts that they like to make is a paper chain. So to start, Joanna read Blue Kangaroo, which is a book about a girl named Lily, her lovies, and her family getting ready for Christmas. Lily's family decorated her house, and one of the decorations was a paper chain. Every time the Cardinals spotted the paper chain in the book, friends pointed it out and gave a little cheer by saying paper chain and making a noise.
Ask your Cardinal what they did every time they saw the paper chain in the book.
After the story, friends went to the tables to start creating a paper chain for the classroom. Joanna and Vickie put a bunch of different colored pieces of paper on the table and the Cardinals used markers and crayons to decorate. Friends made all sorts of designs, wrote their names and drew whatever their little hearts desired. When they were done with one of the slips of paper, Joanna and Vickie stapled it together and added it to the paper chain.
This afternoon, Milan's mom, Carlita, came in for their family holiday sharing. Milan introduced her mom and the activity they would be doing. Carlita shared that they would be reading a book, and that they do a lot of reading, especially around the holiday time, in their family. Milan picked out the book from her home library, I Like Myself! for her mom to read aloud.
The next part of Milan and Carlita's family holiday sharing included decorating cookies. Friends took their seats at the tables and Carlita and Milan handed out plates and cookies. Friends used icing and sprinkles to decorate.
Thank you to Vivian, Joanna and Vickie, and to Milan and Carlita for coming in today to share your family holiday traditions. We appreciate you taking the time to come in and share with us!
On Monday, December 16, Jamesy's family will be coming in for their family holiday sharing and to celebrate his birthday. To celebrate, Jamesy's mom and dad, Melissa and Jim, will be providing a pizza lunch for all of the Cardinals. Therefore, you do not need to send in a packed lunch, unless your child would prefer lunch from home.
See you all Monday! Have a great weekend!
