Meeting for Worship takes place every Wednesday for the whole Abington Friends School in the Meeting House. We attend MFW in time slots, starting with lower school, then middle school and last but not least upper school. MFW is a time where students and teachers sit in silence and think about things that are important to them. Students and teachers can choose to stand and share their thoughts/feelings/reflections and then settle back into silence. Our EC and Kindergarten classes do not attend MFW in the Meeting House at the start of the year, as we are practicing how to sit in silence. We are usually ready to join our wider community in November in the Meeting House. However, every Wednesday the Cardinals, along with the Catbirds and Kindergarten classes, gather in the lower school music room to practice Meeting for Worship. A teacher will guide the group by reading a book/deep breathing /listening to the singing bowl/ looking at a candle or sand timer which is set for 5 minutes, and then we all settle into silence. We break the silence by saying good morning to the person sitting near us, followed by a group sing-along. We are looking forward to eventually walking over and joining the rest of lower school in the Meeting House!
The Cardinals also spent time playing on the playground with the Catbirds class.
Ask your Cardinals what they painted today?
Have a wonderful evening!
