Art project/Music class/outdoor fun

Yesterday, the Cardinals each worked on their individual picture frames that will stay and be displayed in our classroom. Friends were focused and patient as they creatively designed their work! Come take a closer look at our final masterpieces. The frames are for the Cardinals' family photos. If you have not yet sent in your child's 4x6 family photo, please do so. We are starting to display our frames with photos and we do not want any child to be upset or to ask, "Where is my family photo?" Thank you all!! These photos are one of the ways we are starting to build our classroom community.

Today, the Cardinals had music class with Keisha, our music teacher. Friends walked to the music room and were greeted by Keisha. The Cardinals entered the music room by having the choice to explore any musical instrument. We then sang hello in French, Swahili, Spanish, Korean and English, while Keisha played her guitar. Keisha taught the Cardinals two sign language signs which are stand and sitKeisha will be using these signs each time we have music class. We also did a fun game in which Keisha talked about the space around us, our place in space and our bodies in space. This game helped us to be aware of where our bodies are in space and not bump into each other as we move in music class. Keisha then played the drums while friends moved around the room jumping, bouncing, hopping, and marching. We then sang the goodbye song and thanked Keisha for a fun music and movement class.

We returned to our classroom for morning meeting and a snack of graham crackers and oranges. Many friends were asking, "When are we going outside?" and so we went out to the big field to run and pretend to fly kites, which were streamers. We took a walk to Tyson house on campus and each Cardinal got a sheet of AFS stickers. The Cardinals also played on the playground with the Catbirds class.

Ask your Cardinal what they liked about music class today?

Have a great evening!
