What do you like to do in the rain?

Today in Spanish, Alicia brought out a couple of books and asked friends if they ever read or saw these books before. The books were Amazing Grace and La Asombrosa Graciela, which are the same book, just one is the English version and one the Spanish. The book is about a little who loves to play pretend, and listen to and read stories. Alicia asked friends to raise their hands if they like to play dress up and share what they like to pretend to be. Responses included a baby, Power Rangers, ballerina, and ninja.

Alicia read aloud the story, using mostly English but making sure to mix in Spanish as well.
We did not get a chance to read the whole story, which friends were a bit disappointed about, but Alicia promised we would finish the book next Spanish class.

Later on in the classroom, the Cardinals took part in a literacy workshop. There were four different centers set up throughout the room. At one center was letter bingo, with uppercase and lowercase letters. At another center was journaling, where friends were asked What do you like to do in the rain? There were trays filled with sand at another table, and magnetic letter boards. Friends used chopsticks to write their names and letters in the sand. At the last center were large squares with one large uppercase letter written on it. At this station friends hopped on different letters, identifying each and a word that began with that letter, as well as worked as a team to put the letters in order, stepping on each one and calling it out loud.

Today we also celebrated Milan's birthday! Friends were treated to chicken nuggets and fries. We listened to Jojo Siwa play in the background before friends moved over to the dance floor. Soon after, friends had some yummy sweet treats and were given a goody bag. Thank you to Milan and her parents for coming in to celebrate!

Happy birthday, Milan!

Ask your Cardinal what they like to do in the rain.
